The Galileo System for the Electronic Management of Learning

Learning is a hallmark of the new millennium. Rapid advances in science and technology are producing new knowledge at an unprecedented rate. Moreover, the development of global information networks has exponentially expanded our access to new information. These changes have dramatically increased learning opportunities. At the same time, they have expanded learning demands. In order to provide increased rapid access to the information needed to guide learning effectively, ATI has developed the Galileo System for the Electronic Management of Learning. The system is designed to connect the children, parents, teachers, policy makers, and researchers who are stakeholders in the continuing effort to promote learning. The system includes assessment and planning tools that assist teachers to plan learning opportunities appropriate to children's developmental needs. It also includes scales that can be used to document learning outcomes in ways that meet the requirements of State and Federal agencies.

The accompanying document describes the system. In addition, it summarizes research related to the system and provides information on the psychometric properties of assessment instruments currently in use in the system.
